Graduate School
Dave is a graduate student in the Department
of Computer Science at Colorado
State University pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Computer
Science. His areas of interest include Artificial
Intelligence, Networking,
and Software
Engineering. His research focuses on Ant
Colony Optimization and its application to combinatorial
optimization problems.
Ants in Computer Science
So what do Ants have to do with Computer Science? We use many nature inspired
algorithms to solve complex problems, taking advantage of algorithms you
can observe in nature such as evolution. In the case of Ant Colony Optimization,
we mimic the use of pheromone trails to identify good solution to problems.
